Chinese-Market Ford Bronco Launches: AWD Electric & Plug-In Hybrid Camper With Premium Tech
Sales have officially begun in China for the Ford Bronco developed by Jiangling Ford, marking the debut of a large, five-seat crossover offered with full-time all-wheel drive as standard, plus a choice of pure electric or extended-range plug-in hybrid (EREV) powertrains.
Despite the familiar name, this Chinese-market Bronco is not related to the US ladder-frame Ford Bronco or the compact Bronco Sport. It is a standalone model on its own platform, engineered specifically for electrified drivetrains and advanced driver assistance.
A Dedicated EV/EREV Platform With LiDAR
The Chinese Bronco rides on a bespoke unibody platform designed for battery-electric and EREV systems (where the engine acts only as a generator and is not mechanically connected to the wheels).

What This Bronco Represents
This model shows how Ford is adapting its brand icons for China’s EV-first market:
-
Dedicated electric platforms
-
LiDAR-based driver assistance
-
Factory camper solutions
-
Aggressive pricing for premium hardware
A European Bronco (rumored to be C2-based) is expected around 2027, but it will be a completely different vehicle.
For now, the Chinese Ford Bronco stands as one of the most feature-packed electrified adventure crossovers currently on sale — and a clear sign of how regional EV strategies are reshaping global nameplates.
