XPeng P7+ Debuts as a High-Tech Electric Sedan With Ultra-Fast Charging and Advanced Vision-Based Autonomy

XPeng has unveiled the P7+, an all-new, long-range electric sedan aimed directly at the premium EV segment. Designed as a flagship liftback for families, the P7+ introduces next-generation autonomous driving, ultra-fast 5C charging, upgraded efficiency, and a major leap forward in interior quality—positioning it as a serious competitor to established global brands.


Vision-Based Autonomous Driving With 508 TOPS Processing Power

In a major strategic shift, XPeng has removed LiDAR entirely from the P7+. Instead, the EV relies on a pure vision-based perception system, similar to Tesla’s direction.

The system uses:

  • 12 exterior cameras

  • 12 ultrasonic sensors

  • 3 radars

  • Dual Nvidia Orin-X chips delivering 508 TOPS

XPeng’s latest automated driving suite is standard on all trims, with urban NOA and highway NOA initially available in China and planned for global rollout by 2025–2026.

New 800V Architecture With 5C Charging

One of the P7+’s standout features is its rapid charging capability:

  • 10% to 80% in 12 minutes using 5C battery technology

  • Compatible with XPeng’s expanding S5 800 kW chargers

This places the P7+ among the fastest-charging EVs currently on the market.

Both trims use LFP batteries and a single rear motor.

Ultra-Long Range Max

Despite its sleek profile, the P7+ prioritizes practicality:

XPeng significantly upgraded build quality with soft-touch materials, perforated leather, and tight panel tolerances. Test vehicles priced around $27,250 equivalent in China, felt comparable to European competitors costing far more.

Rear passengers benefit from:

  • Heating, ventilation, and massage

  • Electric recline

  • Dedicated 8-inch rear display

The P7+ uses a three-screen layout:

  • 10.25-inch driver display

  • 15.6-inch center display

  • 8-inch rear screen

The cabin is supported by XPeng’s “Little P” voice assistant, which offers advanced, passenger-specific voice recognition and full cabin control.


Driving Impressions: Quiet, Stable, and Comfort-Focused

The P7+ prioritizes refinement over aggression:

  • Smooth power delivery

  • Comfort-biased suspension with good body control

  • Minimal wind and tire noise, even at high speeds

  • Stable highway behavior

Reviewers noted that the near-total cabin silence can make it difficult to judge speed, highlighting the effectiveness of XPeng’s noise insulation engineering.


European Expansion and Pricing Outlook

XPeng continues its European push, displaying the P7+ at major auto shows and partnering with Magna Steyr in Austria for localized production and tariff avoidance.

Expected European pricing:

  • Current XPeng P7 starts around $57,700

  • P7+ may land between $60,000–$70,000

  • If pricing approaches $50,000, analysts expect strong competitive disruption

XPeng has no current plans to enter the U.S. market.
