XPeng Mona M03 Update Certified: Slightly Longer Body and Improved Driving Range
Chinese EV manufacturer XPeng is preparing a subtle but important update to its best-selling electric sedan, the Mona M03. The refreshed version has now been certified by Chinese regulatory authorities, clearing the way for its market launch.
Despite the modest changes, the update matters a great deal for XPeng. Since its debut in August last year, the Mona M03 has been the brand’s top-selling model, accounting for 41.66% of XPeng’s total sales between January and November.
Slightly Longer, Same Proportions
Visually, the updated Mona M03 remains almost identical to the current model. The only dimensional change is a 5 mm increase in length, likely due to minor bumper or body revisions.
Updated dimensions:
-
Length: 4,785 mm (+5 mm)
-
Width: 1,896 mm
-
Height: 1,445 mm
-
Wheelbase: 2,815 mm
All other proportions stay unchanged, preserving the Mona M03’s sleek, low-slung sedan profile.
More Range Without a Bigger Battery
The most meaningful improvement comes in efficiency.
The Mona M03 retains its 62.2 kWh battery, but thanks to optimization, its CLTC-rated driving range increases by 20 km, reaching 640 km on a single charge.
XPeng’s battery lineup for the Mona M03 now looks like this:
-
51.8 kWh – entry-level, lower-cost version
-
61.6 kWh – new mid-range option
-
62.2 kWh – long-range version (640 km CLTC)
This approach allows XPeng to cover multiple price points while improving headline range figures without increasing battery size or cost.
One of the Cheapest Long-Range EVs in China
Affordability remains the Mona M03’s strongest weapon.
-
Starting price: CNY 119,800
-
Approximate price: €14,500
That is roughly half the price of a base Tesla Model 3 in China, which goes a long way toward explaining the Mona M03’s runaway success in XPeng’s lineup.
Why This Update Matters
While the refresh is evolutionary rather than revolutionary, it reinforces what made the Mona M03 successful in the first place:
-
Competitive real-world range
-
Strong efficiency
-
Attractive pricing
-
Modern design and tech
With the Mona M03 already responsible for nearly half of XPeng’s total sales, even small improvements can have a major impact on the company’s overall performance.
As competition intensifies in China’s crowded EV market, XPeng appears focused on protecting its volume champion rather than reinventing it.
