2026 Subaru Trailseeker Debuts With 280 Miles of Range and a $39,995 Starting Price

Subaru has officially revealed full pricing and performance details for the 2026 Subaru Trailseeker, the brand’s long-awaited electric alternative to the Outback. Arriving at dealerships in early 2026, the Trailseeker will start at $39,995, offer 280 miles of estimated range, and become the quickest Subaru ever sold in the U.S.

The Trailseeker is Subaru’s second fully electric model and its first designed from the start to appeal to the brand’s core outdoor-focused audience.

More Range Than Expected: Now 280 Miles

When Subaru first previewed the Trailseeker earlier this year, it estimated “more than 260 miles” of range. The final number—280 miles—gives the electric Subaru significantly more appeal in a competitive SUV segment.

The EV uses a 74.7-kWh battery pack and supports:

  • 150 kW fast charging (NACS)

  • 10–80% recharge in ~28 minutes

  • Automatic and manual battery preconditioning

Performance: Subaru’s Quickest Vehicle Ever

With 375 hp, the Trailseeker reaches 60 mph in 4.4 seconds, making it the fastest-accelerating Subaru ever offered in the United States.

The upgraded AWD system uses front and rear acceleration sensors to adjust torque in real time, improving traction on different terrains and optimizing regenerative braking.

Subaru’s off-road systems come standard:

  • Symmetrical AWD

  • Dual-function X-MODE

  • Grip Control

  • Downhill Assist

Interior, Technology, and Cargo

Inside, the Trailseeker offers significantly more technology than the gas-powered Outback:

  • 14.0-inch HD touchscreen

  • EyeSight driver assistance suite

  • Traffic Jam Assist (hands-free at low speeds)

  • Lane Change Assist

  • DriverFocus distraction mitigation system

  • Blind-spot monitoring

  • Reverse Automatic Braking

Cargo capacity:

A Critical Model for Subaru’s EV Strategy

The Trailseeker arrives at a moment when Subaru’s customer base is increasingly EV-curious, especially long-time Outback owners looking for an all-electric alternative that maintains Subaru’s outdoors capability.

With competitive pricing, a strong range, dual-motor AWD, and rugged versatility, the Trailseeker may be Subaru’s most important EV launch to date.
