BMW EVs Now Gain Access to Tesla’s Supercharger Network Across the U.S. Starting December 2025

BMW electric-vehicle owners in the United States just received a major upgrade in charging convenience. As of December 10, 2025, all compatible BMW EVs — including the i4, iX, and upcoming models — can now charge at more than 25,000 Tesla Supercharger points, dramatically expanding long-distance travel options for non-Tesla drivers.

This integration marks an important milestone for EV interoperability as Tesla’s charging connector rapidly becomes the U.S. industry standard.

Instant Access Through Satnav and My BMW App

BMW confirms that Supercharger locations are already fully integrated into:

  • the in-car navigation system

  • the My BMW mobile app

Drivers can immediately see available chargers and route to them just as seamlessly as existing BMW-preferred networks.

This move significantly reduces “charging anxiety” and brings BMW owners closer to Tesla’s renowned charging convenience.

CCS-to-NACS Adapter Required Until 2026

Current BMW EVs use the CCS charging port, while Tesla Superchargers use the NACS connector.
Because of this mismatch, most drivers will need a CCS-to-NACS adapter to charge at V3 and V4 Tesla stations.

Key details:

  • Third-party adapters are available today

  • Official BMW adapters arrive in Q2 2026

  • This is a temporary transition issue as the industry shifts toward the unified NACS standard

However, BMW emphasizes that this is a short-term inconvenience while long-term compatibility is being built directly into new models.

Magic Dock Locations Allow Immediate Charging Without an Adapter

For drivers who want to use Tesla chargers today, there is a simple solution:
Tesla’s “Magic Dock” Superchargers include a built-in CCS adapter.

Any BMW EV can plug in immediately with:

  • no adapter

  • no extra hardware

  • standard Supercharger rates for non-Tesla users

These stations are less common, but they provide immediate access while owners wait for official BMW hardware.

Native NACS Ports Begin Arriving in 2026 BMW Models

BMW will begin adopting the Tesla charging port (NACS) directly into its vehicles beginning in 2026:

  • First model: 2026 BMW i5 M60

  • Followed by: next-generation iX3 and additional EVs throughout 2026

Native ports will eliminate the need for adapters entirely and make BMW EVs fully compatible with the U.S.’s largest fast-charging network.

Plug & Charge Support Makes the Tesla Network Seamless for BMW Owners

Tesla’s hallmark “plug and play” charging experience is now available to BMW EV drivers.
BMW confirms support for Plug & Charge, allowing:

  • automatic authentication

  • automatic billing

  • no need to open the Tesla app

  • payment through the driver’s Shell Recharge account integrated in My BMW

Charges are billed at Tesla’s standard non-Tesla rates, unless drivers choose a monthly membership for discounts.

Software Delay for Two 2026 Models

Two upcoming BMW EVs will have a slight delay before they can use Tesla Superchargers:

  • 2026 BMW iX

  • 2026 BMW i5 eDrive40

Both models require a remote software update scheduled for Q2 2026.
After that update, they will also gain full Supercharger access.

BMW EVs officially gain access to the Tesla Supercharger network as of December 10, 2025, adding over 25,000 fast-charging locations across the U.S. Drivers can navigate to Superchargers directly through their BMW satnav and My BMW app. While current models require a CCS-to-NACS adapter until BMW releases official hardware in 2026, Magic Dock locations allow immediate charging. Plug & Charge is fully supported, and BMW will begin integrating native NACS ports starting with the 2026 i5 M60. A software update arriving in Q2 2026 will enable access for the new iX and i5 eDrive40.
