Mercedes Reveals All-Electric 2026 GLB With More Power, Longer Range and Built-In ChatGPT

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the next-generation all-electric GLB, replacing the previous EQB and marking a major step forward for the brand’s compact SUV lineup. With a new 800-volt architecture, larger battery, stronger performance, expanded interior space, and a fully AI-enhanced infotainment system powered by ChatGPT, the new GLB pushes the brand further into its digital and electric future.

Two Powertrains: GLB 250+ and GLB 350 4Matic

The GLB launches with two electric variants.

GLB 250+ (RWD)

  • 268 hp

  • 247 lb-ft torque (335 lb-ft with overboost)

  • 0–60 mph: 7.4 seconds

  • Range: 392 miles (WLTP claim)

  • Single rear motor

This version focuses on maximum efficiency and range, making it the long-distance option in the lineup.

GLB 350 4Matic (AWD)

  • 349 hp

  • 380 lb-ft torque

  • 0–60 mph: 5.5 seconds

  • Range: 382 miles (WLTP)

  • Dual-motor all-wheel drive

The AWD version delivers the performance expected from a modern luxury EV while maintaining a strong driving range.

Both trims use the new 85 kWh battery pack and benefit from Mercedes’ upgraded 800-volt fast-charging system.

Larger, More Practical Dimensions

Mercedes has reworked the GLB’s proportions to offer noticeably more interior room:

  • Length: 186.3 in

  • Width: 73.3 in

  • Height: 66.4 in

  • Wheelbase: 113.7 in (extended by 2.4 in)

The increased wheelbase translates into improved second- and third-row legroom. The GLB retains seating for up to seven passengers, depending on configuration.

Cargo volume increases to:

  • 23.6 cu ft behind rear seats

  • Plus 4.5 cu ft in the new frunk

The longer body improves practicality, while the larger turning circle (39 ft) reflects the SUV’s expanded footprint.

New Design Language With Full-Width LED Lighting

Mercedes has given the electric GLB a refreshed exterior identity:

  • A cleaner, EV-specific enclosed grille

  • New star-pattern daytime running lights

  • Full-width light bars front and rear

  • Vertical taillights inspired by the brand’s latest concept vehicles

  • Aerodynamic wheel options

The redesign establishes a more futuristic look while keeping the GLB’s recognizable boxy profile.

A Nearly 40-Inch Digital Dashboard

Inside, Mercedes transitions the GLB into a fully digital experience with the optional Superscreen layout:

  • 10.25-inch digital cluster

  • 14-inch central touchscreen

  • 14-inch passenger display

Totaling almost 40 inches of screen space, the updated cabin removes much of the physical trim in favor of an all-glass, minimalistic design.

All displays run the new MBUX Gen-4 system, powered by the Unity Engine for smoother graphics and responsive animations.

The new GLB introduces the most advanced AI system ever installed in a Mercedes compact SUV:

  • MBUX Virtual Assistant powered by ChatGPT4o

  • Microsoft + Google AI cloud integration

  • More conversational voice controls

  • Context-aware cabin automation

  • Predictive recommendations

The system can adjust comfort settings, manage navigation, curate entertainment, and answer complex queries, marking a major leap in in-car AI usability.

Charging, Efficiency, and Architecture

The 800-volt electrical setup enables:

  • Faster DC charging

  • Better thermal efficiency

  • Reduced cable weight

  • Higher power delivery consistency

Mercedes claims 10–80% charging in less than 30 minutes on high-power chargers, though official European and U.S. charging times will vary.
